We are a team of researchers, students and academics committed to serving society through education and research in the EECS Department at UC Berkeley. We strive to cultivate a sense of belonging in a community centered around principled and controllable AI. In doing that, we support and actively celebrate the different perspectives that each of the members brings to the research process and the lab as a whole.

Carmen Amo Alonso
Assistant Professor, Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences, UC Berkeley

Carmen leads the Control and Intelligent Systems Lab as an Assistant Professor and the Lucy Hsu Faculty Fellow in EECS at UC Berkeley. Beyond her passion for academic research and teaching at a public university, Carmen has collaborated with teams at Google, Apple, and others. More recently, she engages in AI governance topics drawing on her engineering expertise. Committed to education for all, she travels to Latin America in the summers to teach underserved students.
